Sudden Attack Zero Point (SAZ) is a remaster of Sudden Attack, Nexon's online FPS that first launched in 2005. The core of the game is 5v5 PvP, and to get started you only need to learn two rulesets: Bomb Defusal and Team Deathmatch. This guide explains the basic rules every beginner should know, plus how to use Practice mode and bot matches to ease into the game.

What is Sudden Attack Zero Point?

SAZ is a remastered version of Sudden Attack, which launched in South Korea in 2005 and was also operated in Japan from 2007 until September 2019. The original remains a long-running staple FPS in Korea, and SAZ carries over its classic gameplay and simple, snappy controls while modernizing the graphics and adding features such as weapon customization.

The Final Closed Beta Test (CBT) ran from July 9, 2026, 2:00 PM JST to July 13, 6:59 PM JST (schedule and details). The next chance to play is the Early Access launch on Steam starting Thursday, July 30, 2026 — free-to-play, with no pre-registration required. See the release date and Early Access roundup for details.

Basic rules and game modes

The Final CBT features the PvP modes Bomb Defusal and Team Deathmatch, alongside bot matches and a Practice mode. There are six maps in total: two designed for close-quarters battle (CQB) and four for Bomb Defusal. The build includes 13 Primary Weapons, 4 Secondary Weapons, and 10 characters with distinct traits.

Bomb Defusal (search and destroy)

This is SAZ's signature ruleset, carried over from the original. Two teams of five split into attackers and defenders. The attackers win by planting the bomb at one of the two bomb sites on the map and detonating it; the defenders win by preventing the plant within the time limit or by defusing a planted bomb. Matches are round-based with sides swapping between attack and defense, so team coordination — who covers which area — has a huge impact on winning or losing.

Team Deathmatch (TDM)

A 5v5 mode where teams race to a set kill count (80 kills in the CBT); the first team to reach it wins. Respawns mean you're back in the action right after dying, making it ideal for gunfight practice. Beginners should start with TDM to get a feel for aiming and engagement distances.

What to do first

  1. Review your settings: sort out your sensitivity, keybinds, and graphics settings first. See recommended settings and sensitivity for details.
  2. Pick your weapons in Practice mode: try all 13 Primary Weapons and settle on one or two that suit you.
  3. Learn the basics in bot matches: the game gives visual feedback — your aim blurs while moving and shooting — so focus on "stopping" (standing still before you fire).
  4. Make your PvP debut in TDM: once you're comfortable in gunfights, move on to the main event, Bomb Defusal.
  5. Try the Weapon Customization System: as you level up, Weapon Parts such as barrels and grips unlock, letting you tune stats like mobility, ADS speed, and stability. You can save up to three Loadout presets. See the Weapon Customization System explained for how it works.

Fundamentals of positioning and play

Because health does not regenerate and there are no healing items in SAZ, managing your health across an entire round is crucial. Avoid unfavorable fights and aim to shoot first from an advantageous position. In Bomb Defusal, split site assignments with your teammates at the start of each round and avoid pushing out alone — that is the quickest way to raise your survival rate.
