The 3 starting characters

The following three characters were owned from the start in the CBT. All of them are central to the story.

John Hawk | Former UGF commander who holds the key to the story

John Hawk's character screen in SAZ: an older male commander in a black knit cap and white scarf

His official bio reads: "Former UGF special forces commander. After going missing, he reappeared alongside the TLF. A seasoned warrior who commands the battlefield." He appeared as a paid character in the original game, and in this title he is the central figure of a story built around his betrayal.

Carlos | The commander standing against John Hawk

Carlos's character screen in SAZ: a male commander in a navy cap and sunglasses

His official bio reads: "John Hawk's classmate from the military academy. Now a commander confronting his betrayal." He also originates from a paid character in the original game and serves as John Hawk's counterpart.

Judith Hawk | John Hawk's daughter

Judith Hawk's character screen in SAZ: a young woman in a black cap with a UGT logo

Her official bio reads: "John Hawk's daughter and a tracking specialist. She combines calm analytical skill with a talent for combat." She appears to be involved in the story on the side pursuing her father.

The 6 characters sold in the shop (600 SP each)

Six characters are sold in the item shop, all at a flat price of 600 SP. SP is an in-game currency you can earn through CBT play rewards and similar sources.

The character purchase screen in SAZ: Varek, Raven, Astra, Lapis, Black Cat, and Fox Recon lined up at 600 SP each

Varek | Counterpart of the original game's terrorist side (red team)

Varek's character screen in SAZ: a male soldier in a reddish-brown beret and crimson scarf

His official bio reads: "John Hawk's right-hand man, a cold-blooded warrior from Silent Fox. A man of strong conviction." His red beret evokes the terrorist side (red team) of the original game, making him a pick aimed at fans of the original.

Raven | Counterpart of the original game's counter-terrorist side (blue team)

Raven's character screen in SAZ: a SWAT-style operative in a blue helmet with his face covered by a balaclava

His official bio reads: "An infiltration and assassination specialist of unknown identity. He always wears a mask and focuses solely on completing the mission." With a POLICE-marked vest and a visored helmet, his look corresponds to the counter-terrorist side (blue team) of the original game.

Astra | Tactical agent for recon and sniping

Astra's character screen in SAZ: a female agent wearing a boonie hat

Her official bio reads: "A tactical agent skilled in both reconnaissance and sniping. Cheerful in personality, yet calm in judgment." She is a recon-oriented female character wearing a tactical vest with an S.D.A.T patch.

Lapis | Lightly equipped close-quarters specialist

Lapis's character screen in SAZ: a female agent in a black cap and pleated skirt

Her official bio reads: "A close-quarters specialist agent who combines mobility with composure." With her light outfit of a black cap and skirt, her concept looks like a natural fit for close-range weapons such as SMGs.

Black Cat | Combat veteran in POLICE gear

Black Cat's character screen in SAZ: a female agent with a high ponytail wearing a POLICE vest

Her official bio reads: "A female agent with abundant tactical sense and combat experience. Playful in personality, but she always gets the mission done." Her navy police uniform is her signature look.

Fox Recon | Poster girl of the original Sudden Attack

Fox Recon's character screen in SAZ: a female agent in an olive-green military uniform and beret

Her official bio reads: "An elite agent specializing in stealth, reconnaissance, and sniping. She moves across the battlefield with calm judgment." With her silver-insignia beret and military uniform, she is a character aimed at sniper players. She returns as the long-beloved poster girl of the original Sudden Attack — an especially welcome sight for veteran players.

The character unlocked through rank promotion

Red Wind | Foreign-legion-forged fighter earned as a promotion reward

Red Wind's character screen in SAZ: a blonde female soldier wearing a REDWIND cap

Her official bio reads: "A female fighter who grew up as a war orphan. A tough survivor forged in the foreign legion." She does not appear in the shop — she is a promotion-reward character unlocked by raising your rank to Private First Class and Corporal (verified in actual play). With eye-catching tattoos on both arms and a crop top, she serves as an early reward you can earn fairly quickly in the CBT.

Ties to the original Sudden Attack

  • Varek / Raven: They occupy the roles of the original game's standard skins for the terrorist side (red team) and counter-terrorist side (blue team)
  • John Hawk / Carlos: Characters sold as paid characters in the original game return here as the central figures of the story
  • The official bios mention organizations such as UGF, TLF, and Silent Fox, with the relationships between characters drawn around "John Hawk's betrayal"

Once you have picked a character, head to the weapon list and tier guide to find a weapon that matches your preferred engagement range.
