A player has reached Supreme Commander, the highest rank in Sudden Attack Zero Point (SAZ), just two and a half days into the Final CBT — the fastest report we have been able to confirm. This article summarizes what this reveals about the rank system, and clears up the easily confused difference between military rank and ranked mode.

The highest rank is Supreme Commander | Reached 2.5 days into the CBT
CS2 player s4KUSY (@s4KUSY) reported reaching the highest rank on the evening of July 11, 2026 (JST). The profile screen they shared reveals the following.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Highest rank name | Supreme Commander |
| Time to reach | About 2.5 days from the CBT start (July 9, 14:00 JST) |
| Total play time | 24.2 hours |
| Experience shown | 130,196 |
Roughly 53 hours passed between the CBT opening and the report, meaning nearly half of that time was spent in-game. The profile displays a golden insignia — the definitive badge of the CBT's most dedicated tier.
In the Japanese client, the rank's official label is confirmed as "最高司令官" (Supreme Commander) — we verified it in-game on the Japanese UI's level-up rewards screen (see the screenshot in the next section).
The top ranks run General → Marshal → Grand Marshal → Supreme Commander (verified on the Japanese UI)
We verified the order of the top ranks in-game on the Japanese client's level-up rewards screen. The in-game English names of the middle ranks are not yet confirmed, so below we render the Japanese UI labels (大将 / 元帥 / 大元帥) with the standard English military terms General / Marshal / Grand Marshal.

- The top ranks run General → Marshal → Grand Marshal → Supreme Commander, and only the Supreme Commander insignia has a special gold design
- Reaching each of these ranks grants a key card as a level-up reward (see how to open crates and what's inside for what to do with them)
- Each rank has its own experience requirement — promotion to Second Lieutenant III takes 22,000 XP (shown on screen: 19,334/22,000)
Over the CBT's four days, most players landed somewhere in the Second Lieutenant tiers; General and above was territory only a handful of the most dedicated players ever saw.
Beyond Colonel, ranks appear to be assigned by ladder position
The ranks confirmed in the CBT rise with experience earned through play. These unlock milestones have been verified in-game:
| Rank | Unlock |
|---|---|
| Private First Class / Corporal | Character "Red Wind" (character list) |
| Second Lieutenant II | P90 (SMG) (weapon list and best weapons) |
| Second Lieutenant III | Super-Shorty (secondary weapon) (secondary, melee, and throwing weapons) |
| Second Lieutenant IV | Tiger Stripe (melee weapon) |
Beyond Colonel, however, ranks appear to be assigned from the top down based on your position among players, rather than being something anyone reaches by accumulating enough experience. In other words, Supreme Commander looks less like a fixed experience goal and more like a title reserved for the top of the ladder. We will update this article as the exact mechanics become clear.
Military rank and ranked mode are separate systems
It's easy to mix up, but SAZ has a season-based ranked mode that is separate from the experience-based military rank. The record-setter's profile screen makes the distinction visible:
- The RANK tab on the profile has placement-match result slots and a "SEASON BEST" display
- Even at Supreme Commander, the display reads UNRANKED if you haven't played ranked matches
- In short: military rank = accumulated play and experience; ranked mode = per-season competitive skill
Much about ranked mode (tiers and rewards) remains unconfirmed in the CBT; we will cover it separately once the official release reveals the details.
How many players are at each rank?
There is no official data on the rank distribution yet. For current concurrent player numbers and population trends, see our player count and population tracker (with a live counter).
