This page tracks the population and active player count of Sudden Attack Zero Point (SAZ). It shows the current number of concurrent players in real time from the official Steam API, along with the player-count trend during the Final CBT, a comparison with the original Sudden Attack at its peak, and the current state of per-rank population data. If you're wondering "how many people are playing right now?" or "is the game dead?", bookmark this page and check any time.

The counter above shows how many people have the game running right now, fetched from Steam's public API. It refreshes automatically every 60 seconds — no reload needed.

It watches the following two apps and automatically displays whichever one reports a count.

Player count trend during the Final CBT

Here is the concurrent-player trend observed during the Final CBT (July 9–13, 2026), combining posts by Yudayan@SAZ (@Ride_the_wave1), who has been tracking the game's population, with our own Steam API measurements and SteamDB records.

The all-time peak was 8,259 concurrent players on launch day (July 9). While the opening rush gave day one a clear boost, the weekend held steady in the 4,000–5,000 range as well — 5,206 on Saturday night and 4,205 on Sunday night. Weekday midday sat around 1,900, a 2–3x swing depending on the time of day, showing a clear concentration of players in the evening hours. As Yudayan notes, the player base seems to skew toward working adults, with the busiest window running from after work into late night.

How does it compare to the original Sudden Attack?

The original Sudden Attack ran in Japan for about 12 years, from 2007 to 2019, and at its height in September 2011 recorded an all-time peak of 17,000 concurrent players (official Nexon press release).

It's not an apples-to-apples comparison, but hitting about half of the original's all-time peak in a 4-day sign-up-only test is a strong start for a reboot. Once the July 30 Early Access launch brings free-to-play access and a full marketing push, there is plenty of room for these numbers to grow.

Is SAZ dead? Our current assessment

In short: for a CBT, these numbers are solid.

  • A peak of 8,259 on launch day, with weekend nights holding in the 4,000–5,000 range — well above the level where matchmaking becomes a problem
  • Around 1,900 at weekday midday is on the low side, but reasonable for a weekday during a test
  • All of this under conditions requiring advance sign-up on Steam

The real test begins with Early Access, starting Thursday, July 30, 2026 (release date and Early Access roundup). For free-to-play titles, the launch-window population largely determines matchmaking quality afterward, so the numbers right after release will be the key metric. The live counter on this page switches to the release build automatically, so it will keep working after launch.

Can we see player counts per rank?

As of now, there is no official data showing how many players are at each rank. The Steam API only exposes concurrent player counts, and the game itself has no rank-distribution stats screen.

As a rough guide, here is the rank-related information we confirmed in-game during the Final CBT. Ranks rise with experience earned through play, and these unlocks serve as progression milestones.

RankUnlock
Private First Class / CorporalCharacter "Red Wind" (character list)
Second Lieutenant IIP90 (SMG) (weapon list and best weapons)
Second Lieutenant IIISuper-Shorty (secondary weapon) (secondary, melee, and throwing weapons)
Second Lieutenant IVTiger Stripe (melee weapon)

Over the CBT's four days, many players reached the lieutenant tier, so the bulk of the player base likely sits in the enlisted-to-junior-officer range. At the very top, however, the pace is fast — one player reached the highest rank, Supreme Commander, about 2.5 days into the CBT (the highest rank revealed). Once the official release adds a ranking feature or career stats page that reveals the rank distribution, we will compile the data and publish it in this section.

Outlook

Early Access on Steam is confirmed to begin on Thursday, July 30, 2026 (announced July 13, 2026). See the release date and Early Access roundup for details.

  • The live counter will automatically cover the Early Access build after launch
  • Between the end of the CBT (July 13, 18:59 JST) and the start of Early Access (July 30), the counter sitting around zero is normal
  • We will update this page as new player-count and rank-distribution data emerges
